Community Edition & Trial Version

Log4View Community Edition may be used free of charge for noncommercial purposes. Every commercial usage of Log4View Community Edition is forbidden.

When you install Log4View on a computer for the first time, it works for 30 day as trial version, offering the same functionality as Log4View Professional Edition.

After 30 days, Log4View continues working as Community Edition with limited functionality.

Update and Upgrade

An update is within a major version (e.g. 2.0.1 to 2.0.2 or 2.0.x to 2.1.x). It contains bug fixes, various tweaks and minor refinements.

An upgrade happens from one major version to another (e.g. 2.x to 3.x). Here new features and major changes are introduced.

License

A license features

  • Permanent usage of versions it has been bought for
  • All updates within the same major version (e.g. 2.0.x -> 2.1.x)
  • Support for one year
  • Upgrades to all major versions released within one year after purchase (e.g. 2.x.x -> 3.x.x). Of course, this includes all future updates of the upgraded major version.

The support period ends after one year. This means that a license is no longer eligible for technical support and new upgrades. Yet all versions of Log4View that accept the license will continue to run and may receive updates.

Extending the support period

The support period of a license is limited to one year. Yet it can be extended without having to buy a new license at the full price.

Subscription

With a subscription the support period is renewed on a yearly basis. This features more comfort at a reduced price with

  • Continuous support
  • Continuous upgrades

The yearly renewals only cost a third compared to a new license. Subscriptions may be terminated at any time.

Manual Renewal

Owners of regular licenses that are not older than two years can renew them for one more year. A renewed license can be renewed again, as long as the last renewal is not older than two years again. With a renewal you gain

  • One further year support
  • Upgrades to all major versions released within one year after purchase (e.g. 2.x.x -> 3.x.x). Of course, this includes all future updates of the upgraded major version.

Renewals cost 60% less than a new license.
